Oil on canvas. 73 × 88,5 cm (28 ¾ × 34 ⅞ in.). Signed lower right: Emil Nolde. On the upper stretcher bar in black signed and titled: Emil Nolde „Bewegte See“ II. There too a label of the exhibition New York 1977 (see below). Catalogue raisonné: Urban 609. Framed

Differently than described in the printed catalogue the painting was executed 1914 shortly after Emil Nolde's return from the South Seas. It is not one of the lost paintings from the South Seas that were found in Plymouth in 1921.
