Condition Report: In good condition. No loss of substance. With handling marks that are inherent to the material. Fine, harmonious overall appearance
At an exhibition of young Norwegian art at the National Museum in Oslo in 2013, a series of shopping trolleys, filled with scraps of metal, was put on display in the museum's main hall by the artist Ida Ekblad, creating thereby a stark contrast to the institutional exhibition space.
Ekblad initially used shopping trolleys as carrying vessels to bring scraps and other found metal objects to her studio for new works. Later, she began to incorporate them as installation pieces into her radically material-oriented artistic practice. Sometimes, the artist also rolls the trolleys over her still-wet paintings or carves lines of her poetry into the rubber wheels - as is done in this work.
