On Saturday, 29 November 2025, the 30th art auction of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO) will take place at St. Matthew's Church in Berlin's Kulturforum. Bishop Dr Christian Stäblein and actress and photographer Margarita Broich will act as patrons. This year, the auction is being organised in cooperation with the auction house Grisebach and the Diakonisches Werk der EKBO (DWBO).

Over 50 works of contemporary art - including works by Leiko Ikemura, Alicja Kwade, Santiago Sierra, Olaf Holzapfel, Isa Melsheimer and Amélie von Heydebreck - will go under the hammer. In addition, the Kulturforum's neighbours are participating with exclusive art events that can be purchased by the highest bidder - including backstage insights into the Gemäldegalerie, a manuscript show of Bach's Mass in B minor in the Staatsbibliothek, a dress rehearsal of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and a guided tour of the newly built berlin modern next to St. Matthew's Church. This year, Elena Sánchez y Lorbach - guest auctioneer from the Grisebach auction house, which is a co-operation partner this year, and Fares al Hassan - who has been the auctioneer of the EKBO art auction for many years.

The total proceeds go to church and diaconal projects and initiatives that work for and together with migrant women. In concrete terms, this takes the form of professional counselling services on asylum issues and the right to stay, the creation of meeting places, assistance with language acquisition and support for cultural projects such as the Mediterranean Monologues, which promote an understanding of refugees and their situation.
