About the auction

The Contemporary Art auction brings together highlights from the past 60 years of art history; from painting, sculpture, video and photography to graphics and works on paper. Among them are outstanding works by European artists such as Rosemarie Trockel and Katharina Grosse, masterpieces by Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer and Martha Jungwirth from the circle of the Vienna Actionists and the German "Malerfuersten" Markus Lüpertz, A.R. Penck and Jonathan Meese. In addition, outstanding works by Richard Paul Lohse and Max Bill from a private Berlin collection of Concrete Art and special works from the Maren Otto Collection, which includes the artists C.O. Paeffgen and Robert Wilson. Works by Roy Lichtenstein and Christo come from the Ernst Schering Foundation and conceptual sculpture, prominently represented by Imi Knoebel, from a European corporate collection. In addition, the catalogue presents institutionally established artists of the future, such as Monica Bonvicini, Michail Pirgelis and Sylvie Fleury.
