Information

Pencil and black chalk on grey primed paper. 48,8 × 34,2 cm (19 ¼ × 13 ½ in.). Signed upper right: MLiebermann. Presumably a study for the oil painting "Schreitender Bauer" of 1984-96. [3647]

Condition Report: Harmonious overall appearance. The sheet firmly mounted onto the support cardboard. At the top of the right edge, a loss (2,5 x 0,5 cm). At the lower edge paper residue and, along the edges, slight traces of liquid adhesive from the detached mounting in the mat. The mat cover still intact on the left-hand side, thus, largely covering the left sheet margin. The paper under the mat margins slightly time stained. In a few places, faint scuff marks

Walter Bauer, Fulda (acquired in 1959 at Hauswedell, Hamburg, thence by descent to the present owner)
