Oil on cardboard, laid down on cardboard. 49,5 × 54,3 cm (19 ½ × 21 ⅜ in.). Lower left monogrammed by Otto Modersohn for the artist: P.M-B. On the decorative frame a label of Galerie Flechtheim. Catalogue raisonné: Busch/Schicketanz/Werner 183. [3089] Framed

A variation of the Porträts of Elsbeth is in the collection the Berlin Nationalgalerie (inv. no. B 580).

Gertrud Sioli-Schönstedt, Duisburg (acquired in the 1920s presumably at Galerie Flechtheim, Dusseldorf, thence by descent to the present owner)
