Coloured chalk and pen and India ink on paper (postcard). 15,7 × 10,4 cm (6 ⅛ × 4 ⅛ in.). Catalogue raisonné: Accompanied by a confirmation by Hans Geißler, Estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen, dated 18.12.1990 (in copy). The drawing is registered in the archive of the Estate Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen. [125] Framed

Condition Report: In good condition. The sheet edges partially somewhat unevenly cut, otherwise without tears or losses. The colours slightly faded. The paper with minor time staining, along the sheet edges somewhat stronger. Ultraviolet light reveals no retouchings or repairs. Fine, harmonious overall appearance

Klaus Gebhard (1896–1976) was an art collector from Wuppertal who acquired Expressionist art and, after the war, works by American Pop Art artists, among others. The translation of the original German text on the the postcard reads: Jan. 1, 1922 Dear Herr Klaus Gebhardt [sic!], I still owe you a reply to your letter. We very much hope for your promised visit. We send you our warmest wishes for the New Year with best regards. Yours, Erich Heckel
