Oil on vinyl record, with the original record sleeve. Diameter: 30 cm (11 ¾ in.). Signed and dated in black felt-tip pen on the reverse. Catalogue raisonné: Butin 60. One of 100 copies, each numbered on the reverse and on the accompanying record sleeve, each with a unique character. Mönchengladbach, Museumsverein, 1984. [2001]

The record Bach. The Goldberg Variations. Glenn Gould (CBS, 1982), painted by Gerhard Richter, is the artist’s contribution to the portfolio Hommage à Cladders, published by the Museumsverein Mönchengladbach. The portfolio comprises editions by 18 artists and was produced in an edition of 50 copies. The remaining 50 copies were sold individually.
