Wooden box with 32 wooden chess pieces, 16 of which are painted black. Dimensions of the Kastens (H x B x T): 5,7 cm x 12,8 cm x 12,5 cm (2 ¼ in. x 5 in. x 4 ⅞ in.). On the inside of the lid with the blindstamp: HARTWIG BAUHAUS DESSAU GES[ETZLICH] GESCH[ÜTZT]. On an additional piece of wood the stamp in violet (in capitals): Zu beziehen durch / Jos. Hartwig / Frankfurt a/M. / Städel, Dürerstr. Abriebspuren black paint, tears at the back in the wooden box.
