At the outbreak of WWII the painting was brought by the artist from Berlin to Southern Germany and, for this purpose, it was unstretched and rolled. Only in 1983, at the artist's instigation, it was repaired and mounted on a stretcher. After that Birkle signed the painting again..
Private collection, Austria (acquired directly from the artist)
