Oil on canvas. 98 x 88 cm (38 ⅝ x 34 ⅝ in.). Lower right dated, monogrammed, inscribed and dated a second time: 1909 H [coat of arms] V 19 W 09. Inscribed in chalk on the upper stretcher bar (by the artist?): Heinrich Vogeler, Worpswede. There too a label of the Leipziger Kunstverein. In artist's frame (on the reverse with Vogelers engraved coat of arms). Catalogue raisonné: Noltenius 90. The archive of the Barkenhoff-Stiftung Worpswede holds two preparatory drawings relating to this painting. Framed
