Information

Oil on canvas. 72 x 87 cm (28 ⅜ x 34 ¼ in.). Signed lower right: MOPP. Catalogue raisonné: Von Puttkamer 187. The catalogue raisonné lists a considerably larger version of the subject (von Puttkamer 186, „Sechstagerennen I“, colour plate 20), which is lost since it was exhibited at the Viennese Künstlerhaus in 1932/33. The images' identicalness and the remnants of paint in the tacking margin of the present painting provide evidence that the artist reduced the large version to its central motif in the present painting shortly after the exhibition and signed it as an autonomous work.. Skillfully repaired tear. Framed

We would like to thank Dr. Marie-Agnes von Puttkamer, Munich, for kindly providing additional information.
