Oil on oak. 26,5 x 39 cm (10 ⅜ x 15 ⅜ in.). On the reverse in black ink: Rembrand. On the reverse in red chalk: 259 RD, 4, 33. On both the panelling and the frame two red customs stamps of the Weimar Republic, one of which illegible / on the frame in grease pencil: 9739 Goyen. Catalogue raisonné: Accompanied by a certificate by Cornelis Hofstede de Groot, ’s Gravenhage, dated October 1927, no. 3873, where the painting described as a "echtes und karakteristisches Werk von Jan van Goyen“ (in the original) / These conclusions shared by Max J. Friedländer, Berlin, in his opinion of 15 June 1932 (in transcript) - identical to Friedländer's notebook entry, RKD, archive, inv.-no., 294 (1936) / With an appraisal by Ellis Dullaart, The Hague, dated 16 February 2015, in which the work is attributed to a painter from van Goyen's close circle (in the original). Framed
