Oil on cardboard. 13 x 12,8 cm (5 ⅛ x 5 in.). Minuscule loss at the right lower corner. The sheet has been detached from a piece of cardboard, only slightly larger in size than the sheet. Inscription on the reverse of the mount in brown pen (historical): Besitzerin Annaliese Friedrich Hannover-Kleefeld Senator Bauerstr. 29. On the reverse of the picture with the inscribed name C. D. Friedrich [name underlined]. According to a confirmation it was Ernst Bommer, the brother-in-law of C. D. Friedrich, who made this inscription.. Framed

Estate Caspar David Friedrich (since then in family collection) / private collection, Saxony

In the printed catalogue the artist is erroneously named as Gustav Adolf Friedrich.
