Information

Terracotta, mounted on black lacquered wooden base. Height (without base): 16,5 cm (6 ½ in.). Accompanied by a certificate by Dr. Ursel Berger, Berlin, dated 25 July 2016.

Museum Folkwang, Hagen (acquired by Karl Ernst Osthaus presumably 1904 at Galerie Vollard, Paris, until 1921) / Collection Adalbert and Thilda Colsman, Langenberg (thence by descent to the present owner)

The first Maillol Vollard editions were presented in 1902. They were made after plaster models by Aristide Maillol in bronze and terracotta. Our copy was possibly executed by the ceramist André Metthey.
