Black half-linen covers with pencil drawings and one watercolour each on 28 sheets of paper each. 17 × 11,5 cm, 16,5 × 10,5 cm (6 ¾ × 4 ½ in. and 6 ½ × 4 ⅛ in.). Sketchbook 1 signed and dated in pencil on the flyleaf upper right: Franz Skarbina August 1871. Sketchbook 2 same place signed and inscribed in pencil and dated lower right (by another hand?): Franz Skarbina Ritterstr. 42 Aug. 1872. On each front endpaper the estate stamp in black (see Lugt 2289).
