„Das 'Stilleben mit Flieder und Apfelsinen' (ehemals Nachlaß, S 45) taucht in Münters frühen Bilderlisten mit dem Datum 1909 mehrfach auf. In diesen Aufzeichnungen findet sich auch der Hinweis, daß sie es für die erste Ausstellung der 'Neuen Künstlervereinigung München' im Winter 1909/10 vorgesehen hatte. Seine wunderbare Farbenharmonie von Blau- und Fliedertönen mit dem Orange der Früchte, der gelöste, zielsichere Pinselstrich und die konzentrierte Nahsicht auf das Motiv machen dieses Gemälde zu einem der schönsten Stilleben Münters." M., Schirn Kunsthalle, 1992/93, p. 264) "Dated 1909, ‘Still Life with Lilacs and Oranges’ (formerly from the estate, p. 45) appears in Münter’s early ledgers several times. The ledgers inform us, among other things, that the artist intended to include the painting in the first exhibition in the winter of 1909/10 of the 'Neue Künstlervereinigung München.’ The wonderful harmony of colours, the blue and lilac hues together with the orange of the fruit, the free unerring brushwork and the focused close up of the subject make the painting one of the most beautiful still lifes by the artist."
