Gregor Schneider has been altering Das Haus u r (The House u r, Unterheydener Straße in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt) steadily since 1985. Rooms were built within rooms and partition walls were installed, making it difficult for visitors to find their way through the narrow corridor systems. This photo series from 1999 impressively illustrates the spatial experience that visitors could not resist. In 2001 Schneider won the Golden Lion award at the 49th Venice Biennale with its variation "Totes Haus u r Venedig 2001" (Dead House u r Venice 2001)..
