Frieder Nake is a pioneer of computer art. In 1963, just two years before the drawings offered here were created, Nake began his first artistic works on the Graphomat Zuse Z64, Konrad Zuse's drawing machine. As a result of algorithms precisely programmed by the artist, drawings such as the "Zufälliger Polygonzug" and the "Kreisstörungen" were created. The theoretical basis of Nake's early works, and of computer art in general, was laid by Max Bense, who coined the term "generative aesthetics" for it. In 1965, Nake was part of only the third exhibition of computer art worldwide, at the Wendelin Niedlich Gallery in Stuttgart..
