Information

15 gelatin silver prints in a hand-made album, 1966. Each approx. 18,5 x 13,9 cm (7 ¼ x 5 ½ in.). On the reverse of each photo, the stamp: „ÉPREUVE ORIGINALE Atelier Man Ray PARIS“. Each photo is mounted by the reverse, left edge, onto the firm white cardboard of a page’s front. On the half title page, the printed label: „man ray les mannequins’. On the frontispiece a copyright note, on the title page the imprint: „Mannequins présentés à l’Exposition Surréaliste de 1938 - Texte & Photographies de Man Ray“. Following this, two printed pages, the first with artists' names, the second with an introductory text by Man Ray. On the second to last page the edition information and the edition number, there too signed in pencil by Man Ray. On the last page further edition information. These together in a bound, gold-coloured volume, designed by Man Ray (realised by the Ateliers Mercher, Paris). With a black cardboard slip case, the interior of which is covered with beige fabric.. From the edition of 30 + 7 editioned copies, ed. by Jean Petithory, Paris 1966.
