Information

Pen and black ink over pencil, with grey wash, on paper (watermark: Canson). 22,4 × 29,7 cm (8 ⅞ × 11 ¾ in.). Monogrammed (joined, the „F“ mirrored) and dated lower right: 18 FP 74. Catalogue raisonné: The work will be included in the catalogue raisonné of the works of Friedrich Preller the Elder by Uwe Steinbrück, Jena (in preparation). Framed

The correct title is "Satyr und Satyresse in arkadischer Landschaft". As can be recognised by the goat's legs, the female figure is a Satyr and not a Nymphe. We would like to thank Michael Thimann for kindly providing additional information.
