Oil on line structured paper on cardboard. 25 × 16,9 cm (9 ⅞ × 6 ⅝ in.). Monogrammed lower left: A.J. Dated lower right: 37. On the reverse with a mounted paper. There inscriebd and dated by Lisa Kümmel for the artist: A. Jawlensky III 1937 N.8. Below this inscribed by Andreas Jwalensky, the son of the artist: Meditation IV „Aufbegehren der Sünde“. On the back of the frame labels the Kunsthalle Emden and the Pinacoteca Comunale Locarno (see below). Catalogue raisonné: Catalogue raisonné: Jawlensky 2149. Laid down on masonite, with space for the signature field on the reverse. Framed
