Oil on canvas on artist's board . 22,7 × 44,5 cm (8 ⅞ × 17 ½ in.). Monogrammed and inscribed lower left: WL Swaroschin. Signed (later) lower right : W. Leistikow. A label inscribed in pen in black ink on the reverse: W. Leistikow Haus mit Strohhaufen M[ark ...]. Framed

Swaroschin (today Swarożyn), formerly a part of West Prussia, is located ca. 40km south of Gdansk (Danzig). It was formed in 1889 from the localities of Kirchspiele Preußisch Stargard, Dirschau and Sobbowitz and after the 1st World War was ceded to Poland as a result of the Treaty of Versailles.
