Pencil on paper. 44,2 × 27 cm (17 ⅜ × 10 ⅝ in.). With the Lugt 1994 collector's mark on the reverse lower left. Study for “Der Rhein mit seinen Nebenflüssen“ (circa 1842/43, see exh. cat.: Moritz von Schwind. Meister der Spätromantik. Karlsruhe, Staatliche Kunsthalle, and Leipzig, Museum der Bildende Künste, 1996/97, cat. no. 241-243). Faint horizontal handling crease.
