Oil on cardboard, laid down on canvas. 67,6 × 49,3 cm (26 ⅝ × 19 ⅜ in.). Signed and titled in black chalk (presumably by the artist) on the reverse: G. Tappert Frl. R. mit schwarzen Handschuhen. Catalogue raisonné: Wietek 220. Minor paint losses. Framed

Prof. Gerhard Wietek, from whose collection this painting originates, was the director of the Altonaer Museum in Hamburg, director of the state museum in Schleswig-Holstein and head of the state museum Schloss Gottorf. In 1980 he wrote an extensive monograph over the work of Georg Tappert, with the catalogue raisonné of his paintings, and in 1996 with the catalogue raisonné of his graphic prints.
