Information

Gouache, opaque white and coloured chalk on packing paper. 69,5 × 98,8 cm (27 ⅜ × 38 ⅞ in.). At the lower edge dated and signed in wax crayon in light blue : 94 Middendorf.

Condition Report: Fine, harmonious overall appearance. The sheet edges without tears or losses. The paper due to the artist's technique slightly undulated and in places with crincle creases. In the white impasto paint areas very isolated fine craquelure and in the middle part of the image above and below the centre each one small loss of the upper white paint layer. Ultraviolet light reveals no retouchings or repairs. On the reverse isolated traces from the artist's workshop. In the upper corners each adhesive residue from a former mounting; the spot on the right covered with a yellow paper strip
