Oil on paper. 25,6 x 22,1 cm (10 ⅛ x 8 ¾ in.). Inscribed in pencil on the reverse: C. G. Carus / (1789-1869) / Motiv von der Pillnitzer Elbinsel / Aus der Sammlung Friedrich Lahmann / Dresden-Weißer Hirsch. Catalogue raisonné: Probably Prause 272 („auf Pappe, 24,5 x 21 cm“). – Accompanied by a supplementary confirmation (in copy) by Dr. Hans Joachim Neidhardt, Dresden, dated 12 April 1995. Framed

This is a study to Carus‘s painting „Pillnitzer Elbinsel“ of 1830 (Prause 271), which from 1920 was located at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Galerie Neue Meister (inv. no. 2215c). The painting is lost since 1945..
