Watercolour and pen and India ink on Japan laid paper. 25,4 x 28,7 cm (10 x 11 ¼ in.). Signed lower left: Feininger. Inscribed below this: „Nachbar´s Kindern“, von Papileo! Dated lower right: 14.12.31. Time staining.

We would like to thank Dr. Ulrich Luckhardt, Ingelheim, for kindly confirming the authenticity the watercolour.

In the year this watercolour was executed, Feininger was living with his family in a semi-detached master's house at the Dessau Bauhaus. Following the departure of László and Lucia Moholy Nagy in 1928 their immediate neighbours were Josef and Anni Albers..
