Gelatin silver print, 1990s. 66,5 × 101,5 cm (81,2 × 116,5 cm) (26 ⅛ × 40 in. (32 × 45 ⅞ in.)). In the margin lower right signed in black ink and address information: „Box 47616 Nairobi", in lower left annotated: „Large tusker c. 150 lbs in TSAVO north nr. Block 33 + Ithumba Hill / Feb. 1965 for 'LiFE' cover story by Romain Gary ('letter to an elephant'). Laid down on original Kapa board, thereupon on the reverse label of the Gallery „The Time is Always Now". Unique work. With sporadic imperfections in the sheet margins (not visible within the frame). Original gallery frame (88,5 x 123,5 x 9,5 cm)

Enclosure: original LIFE Magazine Vol. 63, No. 25, December 22, 1967 with a reportage by Romain Gary: „Dear Elephant, Sir:" and photographs by Peter Beard.
