Around 1932, Jeanne Mammen created several lithographs for a German-language book edition of the "Lieder der Bilitis" commissioned by the Berlin gallery owner Wolfgang Gurlitt. They are based on the book of the same name by the French poet Pierre Louys (1870-1925), which was published in 1894. However, the planned edition of Mammen's lithographs for this work was never published; only proofs of the prints exist
