Woodcut on laid paper (watermark: issue ANTIQUE). 59,8 x 35,5 cm (65 x 44,7 cm) (23 ½ x 14 in. (25 ⅝ x 17 ⅝ in.)). Signed, inscribed and (later) inscribed with a dedication and title: Probedruck Erster Zustand für Quappi. Titled and dated later. Catalogue raisonné: Hofmaier 282 I. (of IV.B.b). Only known print of the 1st state. The 4th state, heavily truncated in length, was printed in a total edition of 300 copies. Verlag der Marées Gesellschaft R. Piper & Co., Munich 1923. Creases in the upper margin, small tears at the sheet edges.
