Watercolour and brush and India ink on Japan paper, mounted on light cardboard by the artist. 11 x 13,7 cm (4 ⅜ x 5 ⅜ in.). Signed with pen in black upper right: Nolde. Titled in pencil on the support cardboard on the left below the image: Gespräch. One of the „Ungemalte Bilder“, completed during the time the artist was prohibited from painting by Nazi law. Enclosure: autograph by the artist: „Schönste Wünsche u. liebe Grüsse dem jungen Hochzeitspaar von uns Seebüller u. Ihrem Emil Nolde”. Framed

Wedding gift from the artist (1948) to one of the daughters of the Hamburg museum director Dr. Max Sauerlandt, thence by descent to the present owner
